1. Cookies and browser storage
Cookies are small values stored by a website in your browser. Modern sites can also use local storage, session storage and IndexedDB for similar device-side functions. This policy explains all of those technologies, not only traditional cookies.
2. Essential and user-requested storage
| Storage | Purpose | Duration | Type |
|---|---|---|---|
gangway_analytics_consent | Remembers whether you allowed or declined analytics | Up to 24 months or until reset | Local storage |
| Gangway trip state | Remembers quiz answers, recent search and trip requirements | Until you clear the trip or browser storage | IndexedDB, with local-storage fallback |
| Gangway shortlist | Remembers liked, possible and rejected boats on this device | Until you clear the shortlist or browser storage | IndexedDB, with local-storage fallback |
gangway:quiz-dismissed | Prevents a dismissed quiz from immediately reopening | Current browser session | Session storage |
This storage supports features you request and does not create a Gangway user account. Its contents ordinarily stay on your device rather than being sent to Gangway as stored profile data.
3. Optional Google Analytics
If you select “Allow analytics”, we load Google Analytics 4 using measurement ID G-RQ7LYLCZFZ. It helps us understand visits, page use, navigation and interactions so we can improve Gangway. We do not load the Google tag when you choose “Only essential” or before you make a choice.
| Cookie | Provider and purpose | Typical duration |
|---|---|---|
_ga | Google Analytics; distinguishes browser instances using a pseudonymous identifier | Up to 2 years, refreshed with use |
_ga_* | Google Analytics; maintains session and measurement state for the GA4 property | Up to 2 years, refreshed with use |
Analytics information is intended to be retained at user/event level for 14 months. Aggregate reports may remain available separately within Google Analytics.
4. Change or withdraw your choice
Rejecting analytics is as easy as accepting it and does not prevent you using Gangway. You can reopen the choice at any time using “Analytics settings” in the footer.
Resetting the choice removes the Gangway consent record and attempts to remove Gangway's first-party Google Analytics cookies. You can also delete cookies and site data using your browser settings. Blocking all storage may stop the shortlist or trip-memory features from working as expected.
5. External websites and media
Boat images may be loaded from a supplier content network. When you follow a booking, map, reference or other external link, the destination site may set its own cookies. Gangway does not control those technologies; review the destination's cookie and privacy information.
6. Updates and contact
We may update this policy if our storage or analytics tools change. Questions can be sent to info@gogangway.com.
