Ask for the approximate cruising time from the actual marina, not from a generic Split pin. Solta is normally more practical than Hvar; western Brac is closer than Bol; and Vis is substantially farther offshore. Boat speed changes the answer, but a faster crossing can increase fuel cost and may be uncomfortable in chop.

A useful full day normally has one primary island, one town or lunch stop and one or two swims. If an itinerary advertises five islands, a cave, lunch and several towns in eight hours, ask how much time is genuinely spent at each place.

The Adriatic can change character with local winds. A route sheltered on one side of Solta or Brac may be exposed on the other, and a comfortable morning does not guarantee the same return. Skippers use current marine forecasts, port information and local experience to decide whether Hvar, Vis or a nearer bay is sensible.

Keep an alternative day in mind, especially for the Blue Cave. A changed route to Solta or Brac can still be an excellent charter and is safer than pushing through a sea that makes everyone miserable.

RIBs and fast motorboats are effective for full-day island hopping, but compare shade and seating before choosing on speed alone. Sailing boats suit Solta, Brac and multi-day plans when the passage is part of the pleasure. Catamarans give groups space and stability, especially for a slower day or overnight charter. Larger motor yachts add comfort and range but can have higher fuel and port costs.

Licence requirements depend on the boat and Croatian rules, and many listings require a captain regardless of the renter's qualification. Confirm the accepted licence, VHF requirements and owner approval before selecting a bareboat option.

Check fuel, skipper, final cleaning, transit log, security deposit, port dues, mooring buoys and any cave or attraction tickets. A low base price can become less competitive once a long Hvar or Vis fuel run is added. Ask for a route-based estimate and make clear how many people are travelling.

Bring water, sun protection, a light wind layer and cash or card options for island restaurants. Arrive early enough to find the marina and complete the briefing. Final availability, service fees and the binding charter total are confirmed by the booking partner.
