Local route guide
The experience
Formentor is a natural north-coast route from Port de Pollenca or Port d'Alcudia. Pine-backed Formentor Beach, the rocky peninsula and the broad bays create an easy mix of scenery and swim stops. A longer day can include Cala Murta or a carefully approached stop near Coll Baix, a protected, roadless beach reached mainly on foot or from the sea. Starting in the north avoids wasting hours repositioning from Palma and makes the itinerary much more realistic.
Use these as the shape of the day, with enough time at each stop to swim, relax and enjoy being there.
Formentor Beach combines calm-looking water, a long pine-backed shoreline and the mountain scenery of the peninsula. It is an easy, photogenic first stop for families and mixed groups.
Cala Murta is smaller and more intimate, tucked into the Formentor peninsula with wooded slopes around the water. Slow the pace here for snorkelling and a quiet drink on board.
Coll Baix rewards the longer cruise with a remote beach below steep hills and no resort behind it. Seen from a suitable anchoring distance, it gives the day a genuine sense of discovery.

Coll Baix shelves shallow near shore and has no services. Keep a prudent anchoring distance and treat it as a nature stop, not a marina visit.
