Why this trip is worth a day

The Tramuntana coast is Mallorca at its most dramatic. Leaving Port de Soller, the route runs beneath steep mountains toward Cala Tuent and Sa Calobra, where the Torrent de Pareis meets the sea. This is a journey for a capable boat and, for most visitors, a local skipper. Harbours and easy escape points are limited, swell can reach the coast, and the experience depends heavily on conditions. On the right day it is one of the island's most memorable passages.

   Cala Deia or a nearby coastal view

   Cruise beneath the terraced Tramuntana slopes toward Cala Deia, enjoying a coastline that looks entirely different from Mallorca's beach resorts. Even a scenic pass here sets the tone for the mountain route.

   Cala Tuent

   Cala Tuent is a broad, quiet cove backed by Puig Major and thick green slopes. It is an exceptional place to pause for a swim and appreciate how close the mountains fall to the sea.

   Sa Calobra

   Arrive at Sa Calobra from the water for the full effect of its cliffs and the narrow opening of the Torrent de Pareis. The approach is the climax of the trip and one of Mallorca's great coastal views.
