Sant Elm is the practical gateway to Sa Dragonera, the protected island off Mallorca's western tip. The narrow channel, cliffs, caves and seagrass habitats make a compact but varied route. A boat can explore the coastline from a respectful distance and find a legal swim stop selected for the day's conditions. The area combines well with coves around Andratx, while a later return can deliver the warm west-coast light without turning the day into an unrealistic island crossing.

   Follow Sa Dragonera's dramatic outline from the water, taking in its cliffs, caves and undeveloped slopes. The scenic cruise is the main event, with wildlife and geology replacing the usual beach-club backdrop.

   A cove toward Port d'Andratx

   Turn toward Port d'Andratx and settle into a comfortable west-coast cove for lunch or a final swim. Later departures can enjoy the warm evening light across the cliffs on the way home.
