The experience
Saint-Tropez is possible from Cannes, but it should be treated as a destination passage, not a nearby cove. A fast crewed yacht, early departure, substantial fuel allowance and berth or tender plan are required. For most groups, the Lerins Islands and Esterel produce a better day from Cannes. Choose Saint-Tropez only when arriving there is the priority and everyone understands how much time will be spent travelling.
Use these as the shape of the day, with enough time at each stop to swim, relax and enjoy being there.
Let the red Esterel coast provide the scenery on the outward run. From a fast yacht, its cliffs and inlets become the dramatic opening chapter of the passage west.
Arrive at Saint-Tropez by sea, the way the harbour is meant to be seen. Step ashore for lunch, explore the old streets or watch the waterfront from the yacht with the town in full view.
If the day and return timing allow, pause in a comfortable bay for a cooling swim. It is a welcome moment of stillness after the energy of the harbour and the longer passage.
